Product Description:

Amisulpride is an atypical antipsychotic medication primarily used for the treatment of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. It belongs to the class of substituted benzamides and works mainly by selectively blocking dopamine D2 and D3 receptors in the brain, particularly in the limbic system, which helps alleviate symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and thought disorders.

• Mechanism of Action:
  Amisulpride acts as a dopamine antagonist with preferential binding to D2 and D3 receptors. At low doses, it enhances dopaminergic transmission by blocking presynaptic autoreceptors, which can improve negative symptoms. At higher doses, it blocks postsynaptic receptors reducing positive symptoms.

  • Schizophrenia (positive and negative symptoms)

  • Psychotic disorders

  • Sometimes used off-label for dysthymia or depression resistant to other treatments
