Product Description:
Bukof Tablet (SR) contains Butamirate Citrate, a non-opioid antitussive (cough suppressant) agent. It works centrally by inhibiting the cough reflex, providing relief from dry (non-productive) cough without causing respiratory depression or dependence.

Indications:
-
Symptomatic treatment of dry, irritating, or non-productive cough associated with:

Viral respiratory tract infections
-
Postoperative cough
-
Whooping cough
-
Cough of smokers

Dosage & Administration:
-
Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 50 mg, 1 tablet twice daily, or as directed by a physician.

The sustained-release formulation allows for twice-daily dosing.
Mechanism of Action:
Butamirate Citrate acts on the cough center in the brainstem, reducing the urge to cough without affecting respiration.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Butamirate Citrate or any component of the formulation.

Use caution in children under 12 years unless recommended by a physician.
Precautions:

Not recommended for productive cough where mucus clearance is needed.

Should be used with caution in patients with a history of severe liver dysfunction.
