Description:

Carboplat Injection contains Carboplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapy drug. It is used in the treatment of various cancers, particularly ovarian cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, and other solid tumors. Carboplatin works by interfering with the DNA replication process in cancer cells, leading to cell death.

Composition (per vial):

• Carboplatin USP: 150 mg or 450 mg

• Solvent: Water for Injection q.s.

Therapeutic Class:

Antineoplastic Agent (Alkylating-like agent, Platinum Compound)

Indications:

• Ovarian cancer

• Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)

• Head and neck cancers

• Testicular cancer

• Other solid tumors as recommended by an oncologist

Dosage & Administration:

• Dose and treatment schedule are individualized based on body surface area (BSA), renal function, and type of cancer.

• Administered as an intravenous infusion over 15 to 60 minutes.

• Dose adjustments may be required in patients with kidney impairment.

Storage:

Store below 25°C. Protect from light. Do not freeze.

Warnings & Precautions:

• Monitor blood counts regularly (risk of bone marrow suppression).

• Assess renal and hepatic functions before and during treatment.

• Use with caution in patients with pre-existing kidney dysfunction.

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea, vomiting

• Low blood counts (anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia)

• Fatigue

• Loss of appetite

• Kidney or liver dysfunction (less common than with cisplatin)
