Product Description:
Duratocin IV Injection contains Carbetocin, a synthetic long-acting oxytocin analog. It is primarily used to prevent uterine atony and reduce the risk of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) following cesarean section performed under epidural or spinal anesthesia.

Composition:

• Active Ingredient: Carbetocin 100 micrograms per ml

• Excipients: Sodium chloride, acetic acid, sodium hydroxide, and water for injection.

Indication:

• Prevention of uterine atony and excessive bleeding in women following cesarean section under epidural or spinal anesthesia.

Mechanism of Action:
Carbetocin binds to oxytocin receptors in the uterine muscle, inducing strong, sustained uterine contractions, helping to prevent postpartum bleeding.

Dosage & Administration:

• Recommended dose: 100 mcg (1 ml) administered as a single slow IV injection over 1 minute immediately after delivery of the infant.

Packaging:

• Available in 1 ml ampoules.

Storage:

• Store at 2°C to 8°C (Refrigerated).

• Do not freeze. Protect from light.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with hypertension, cardiovascular disease, or hepatic/renal impairment.

• Not recommended for induction of labor.

Adverse Effects:

• Common: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, flushing, hypotension.

• Rare: Tachycardia, chest pain, allergic reactions.
