Description:
Enrifer IV is an intravenous iron preparation containing ferric carboxymaltose, a stable complex of iron and carbohydrate designed for rapid and efficient iron replenishment. It is primarily used to treat iron deficiency anemia in patients who require intravenous iron therapy due to intolerance or inadequate response to oral iron supplements.

Indications:

• Iron deficiency anemia when oral iron is not effective or feasible

• Chronic kidney disease patients requiring iron supplementation

• Patients with malabsorption syndromes or gastrointestinal conditions limiting oral iron absorption

Dosage Form:

• Injection or infusion vial containing 500 mg of ferric carboxymaltose in 10 ml solution

Mechanism of Action:
Ferric carboxymaltose delivers iron directly into the bloodstream, where it is taken up by the reticuloendothelial system and incorporated into hemoglobin and other iron-containing enzymes, restoring iron stores and improving red blood cell production.

Administration:

• Administered by slow intravenous injection or infusion, usually over 15 minutes or more depending on the total dose required.

• Dosage and frequency depend on the patient’s iron deficit and clinical condition.

Precautions:

• Monitor for hypersensitivity reactions during and after administration.

• Use caution in patients with known allergies to intravenous iron products.

• Monitor iron status regularly to avoid iron overload.
