Product Description:
Ifomes contains Mesna, a synthetic sulfhydryl compound used as a uroprotective agent. It is primarily indicated to reduce the risk of hemorrhagic cystitis caused by oxazaphosphorine chemotherapy drugs such as ifosfamide and cyclophosphamide.
Dosage:
The dosage of Mesna (Ifomes) depends on the dose of the accompanying chemotherapy (usually ifosfamide) and may vary according to treatment protocol. A common regimen includes:

Administered at 20% of the ifosfamide dose (on a mg-to-mg basis), typically at the following schedule:

15 minutes before ifosfamide

Then 4 hours and 8 hours after ifosfamide administration.

Example:
For ifosfamide 1,000 mg/m², mesna (Ifomes) dose = 200 mg/m² IV at each time point (total of 600 mg/m²/day).
Note:

Ensure adequate hydration and urinary output during mesna therapy.

Mesna has a short half-life, so timely administration is critical.

It can also be administered orally in some regimens, following the IV dose.
