Product Description:

Lenalidomide is an immunomodulatory agent used primarily in the treatment of multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and mantle cell lymphoma. It works by modifying the immune system and inhibiting the growth of cancer cells.

Lenalidomide is a derivative of thalidomide but has different pharmacologic properties and is generally better tolerated.

Indications:

• Multiple Myeloma (often combined with dexamethasone)

• Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) with deletion 5q cytogenetic abnormality

• Mantle Cell Lymphoma (in certain cases)

Dosage:

Multiple Myeloma:

• Typical starting dose: 25 mg orally once daily on days 1 to 21 of a 28-day cycle.

• Treatment cycles repeat every 28 days.

• Dosage adjustments may be necessary based on kidney function or adverse effects.

Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS):

• Usually 10 mg orally once daily continuously.

Dose Adjustments:

• Dose modifications may be required for patients with renal impairment.

• Hematologic toxicities (like neutropenia, thrombocytopenia) may necessitate dose reduction or interruption.

• Lenalidomide is teratogenic (can cause birth defects). Strict pregnancy prevention measures are necessary for both men and women during treatment.

• Regular monitoring of blood counts and kidney function is essential.

• Common side effects include fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, rash, and low blood cell counts.

• It is usually taken with or without food at the same time each day.
