Product Description:

Lubilax Capsule contains Lubiprostone, a chloride channel activator that increases intestinal fluid secretion, facilitating stool passage and alleviating symptoms of constipation.

Indications:

• 24 mcg:

  • Chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults

  • Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) in women ≥18 years

  • Opioid-induced constipation (OIC) in adults with chronic non-cancer pain

• 8 mcg:

  • Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) in adult women

Dosage & Administration:

• Chronic idiopathic constipation & Opioid-induced constipation: 24 mcg twice daily with food and water.

• Irritable bowel syndrome with constipation: 8 mcg twice daily with food and water.

Mechanism of Action:

Lubiprostone activates ClC-2 chloride channels on the apical aspect of the intestinal epithelium, enhancing chloride-rich intestinal fluid secretion without altering serum electrolyte concentrations.

Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to Lubiprostone

• Mechanical gastrointestinal obstruction

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with severe diarrhea or gastrointestinal disorders.

• Safety during pregnancy should be evaluated; classified as Pregnancy Category C.

Side Effects:

• Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, headache.

• Less common: Dyspnea, hypotension, allergic reactions.
