Product Description:
Mezest Tablet contains Megestrol Acetate, a synthetic derivative of the hormone progesterone. It is classified as a progestational agent.
Indications:

Appetite Stimulation: Used in patients experiencing anorexia, cachexia, or unexplained significant weight loss, particularly in cancer and AIDS patients.

Hormone Therapy in Cancer: Indicated for the treatment of hormone-responsive cancers such as breast cancer and endometrial carcinoma.
Mechanism of Action:
Megestrol Acetate exerts progestational effects and has anti-gonadotropic properties, leading to the inhibition of pituitary gonadotropin secretion. It also has appetite-stimulating and anti-inflammatory effects, although the exact mechanism of appetite stimulation is not fully understood.
