Product Description:
Slipaid Tablet contains Doxepin, a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) primarily used at low doses for the treatment of insomnia, particularly characterized by difficulty in maintaining sleep. At higher doses, Doxepin is also used for treating major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders.

In Slipaid, the low-dose formulation (3 mg and 6 mg) is specifically designed for sleep maintenance insomnia. It works by blocking histamine (H1) receptors, which helps improve sleep continuity without significant next-day sedation.

Indications:

• Sleep maintenance insomnia in adults

• Short-term management of sleep disturbances

Mechanism of Action:
Doxepin acts as a selective histamine H1 receptor antagonist at low doses, promoting sleep without significant anticholinergic or serotonergic effects commonly seen at antidepressant doses.

Dosage and Administration:

• Taken once daily within 30 minutes of bedtime

• Should not be taken within 3 hours of a meal for optimal absorption and reduced next-day drowsiness

Precautions:

• Avoid in patients with untreated narrow-angle glaucoma or severe urinary retention

• Use with caution in elderly patients

• Not recommended for use with alcohol or other CNS depressants
