Xenofer IV Injection / Infusion
Generic Name: Iron Sucrose
Strength: 100 mg per 5 ml vial

Description:
Xenofer contains Iron Sucrose, a sterile, dark brown solution for intravenous use. It is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia, especially in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who require iron supplementation due to insufficient iron stores or intolerance to oral iron therapy.

Mechanism of Action:
Iron Sucrose delivers elemental iron intravenously, which is then incorporated into hemoglobin and other iron-containing enzymes essential for oxygen transport and cellular metabolism.

Indications:

• Iron deficiency anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease (both dialysis and non-dialysis patients)

• Patients who cannot tolerate or absorb oral iron effectively

• Other iron deficiency states where oral iron therapy is inadequate or contraindicated

Dosage and Administration:
Administered via slow intravenous injection or infusion as per physician’s guidance. Typical doses are calculated based on the patient's iron deficit and clinical condition. The product is usually diluted prior to infusion according to protocol.

Precautions:

• Use under medical supervision with monitoring for hypersensitivity or anaphylactic reactions

• Monitor iron status and hemoglobin levels regularly

• Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to iron sucrose or any of its components

Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place away from light. Do not freeze. Use immediately after opening.
